Nordex secures 91MW Brandenburg wind order

Nordex will supply thirteen turbines for Brandenburg’s Schönermark-Passow wind farm. The 91MW order includes N163/6.X machines and a 20-year service agreement, with first commissioning scheduled for January 2028.

Nordex Group has secured a 91MW order from TEUT Energieprojekte for the Schönermark-Passow wind farm in Brandenburg, Germany, together with a 20-year premium service agreement.

The project will use 13 N163/6.X turbines with hub heights of 164 metres. Turbine delivery and installation are scheduled to begin in September 2027 near Schwedt/Oder in the Uckermark district, with the first machine due to enter commissioning in January 2028.

TEUT Energieprojekte is developing Schönermark-Passow with Austrian utility Salzburg AG. The contract continues an established relationship between TEUT and Nordex in Brandenburg rather than introducing an unfamiliar turbine platform to the developer’s portfolio.

Nordex describes Schönermark-Passow as its tenth project with TEUT. Across those developments, the company has supplied or been contracted for 39 turbines representing 252MW of generating capacity.

The relationship expanded during 2025 when TEUT ordered another 11 Nordex machines totalling 65.7MW for the Mürow-Neukünkendorf and Willmersdorf-Tempelfelde wind farms. Those projects are scheduled for commissioning during spring and summer 2027, putting several TEUT developments into construction and commissioning within a relatively short period.

Schönermark-Passow adds a further 13 machines while extending Nordex’s role well beyond equipment delivery. The 20-year service contract will cover a substantial portion of the turbines’ expected operating life and gives the manufacturer an ongoing role in maintenance, technical support and fleet performance.

Long-term service arrangements have become closely tied to modern wind turbine procurement. Increasing turbine ratings have reduced the number of machines required for a given project capacity, but each unit represents a larger share of production and contains increasingly complex mechanical, electrical and control systems.

Condition monitoring, remote diagnostics and scheduled component interventions are therefore central to availability. An extended service agreement creates a defined maintenance structure from commissioning rather than leaving the owner to establish a separate support model once the construction contract has ended.

The N163 platform is already established within Nordex’s German order book. During the first two months of the second quarter of 2026, the manufacturer reported 255MW of German orders across 14 projects, including 19 turbines from the N163/6.X family.

The Schönermark-Passow units will use 164-metre hub heights, placing their rotors in the wind regime targeted by the project’s site design. Higher towers can improve access to stronger and more consistent wind at suitable locations, although foundation design, crane requirements and construction logistics become correspondingly more demanding.

Delivery in September 2027 leaves approximately a year between the latest order announcement and the start of turbine installation. Civil works, access roads, foundations, internal cabling and the grid connection will have to be coordinated with equipment manufacture so that completed turbines do not wait unnecessarily for other parts of the project.

Grid readiness can be as important as turbine availability. A wind farm can be mechanically complete but unable to export at full capacity if substation, cable or network reinforcement work has not progressed on the same timetable.

The commissioning sequence beginning in January 2028 will bring individual machines through electrical and control-system testing before the full project enters operation. Protection settings, communications, turbine controls and grid-code functions have to operate as part of the complete generating plant rather than as isolated machines.

Repeated use of related technology across TEUT’s portfolio may also simplify parts of the operating model. Common maintenance processes, technical documentation, training and parts planning can be easier to manage across a more consistent fleet, although the detailed turbine configuration can still vary between projects.

For Nordex, the order adds to demand for its six-megawatt-class onshore platform in its home market. The group operates manufacturing capacity across Germany, Spain, Brazil, India, Turkey and the US and has installed more than 64GW of wind capacity across more than 40 markets.

The next defined milestone at Schönermark-Passow is the start of delivery and installation in September 2027. First commissioning is scheduled four months later, while the service agreement will keep Nordex involved with the 91MW project for two decades after the construction programme gives way to routine generation.
