Rexel opens Watford technical branch

Rexel UK has opened a new specialist branch in Watford. The site combines wholesale stock, rapid delivery, and technical design services for contractors and commercial electrical projects.

IN Brief:

  • Rexel UK has opened a purpose-built branch in Watford aimed at SMEs, contractors, and commercial customers serving north and west London.
  • The site pairs trade-counter capacity with solar design, lighting design, fire and emergency systems specification, and pre-fabrication support.
  • Extended opening hours, a dedicated delivery fleet, and heavier site-delivery vehicles position the branch as both a local wholesaler and project logistics base.

Rexel UK has officially opened its new Watford branch, adding a purpose-built facility to its network at Unit 16, Colonial Way, WD24 4YT. The company said the site has been developed to support electrical contractors, SMEs, and commercial customers with a combination of stocked product availability, rapid delivery options, and technical back-up for more complex projects. More than 2,000 products are held in stock on site, with access to the wider Rexel UK network for next-day supply.

The branch has been configured around early starts and fast turnaround. Opening hours run from 6am to 5pm, with secure collection lockers for out-of-hours order pick-up. Delivery capability includes free same-day and next-day options with proof-of-delivery tracking, supported by a dedicated fleet of nine vans serving north and west London, while 7.5-tonne and 18-tonne vehicles are available for larger site drops. An on-site boardroom is also being used for supplier demonstrations and accredited CPD sessions.

The more distinctive part of the launch is the technical offer wrapped around the counter operation. Rexel said the Watford branch is set up as a local hub for specialist design and consultancy work, including solar PV system design using yield-calculation software, lighting design built around British building regulations, and specification support for commercial fire, security, and emergency lighting systems. The site also connects customers to special-build facilities for modified enclosures and pre-assembled kits, with in-house project coordinators managing supply chains for larger installations.

That gives the branch a broader role than straightforward wholesale distribution. In one location, Rexel is combining product availability, design assistance, project coordination, and delivery logistics, which reflects how much electrical work now depends on packaged support across procurement, compliance, and installation planning. Branch details and local contact information are available on the Watford branch page.
